My photographic practice continues to explore the intersection of nature, abstraction and perception. In this new series, I turn my lens toward the giraffe – a creature both iconic and overlooked – to examine the intricate beauty of its form and markings.
Using high-contrast black and white imagery, I strip away environmental context to isolate patterns, texture and form. The results is a visual study that borders on the abstract, where the familiar becomes unfamiliar and the ordinary transforms into graphic elegance. Simple and evocative, I highlight the giraffe’s distinctive coat and the idea of being seen.
Through composition and tonal contrast, I’m looking to further my desire to challenge the boundaries of traditional wildlife photography and invite viewers to see with fresh eyes – to pause, reflect, and rediscover the extraordinary within the everyday.
