I’m Jillian Mitchell, a photographer based on Phillip Island, Australia, working across wildlife, landscape, travel, macro, and environmental photography.
My practice is grounded in a deep curiosity for the world — its textures, rhythms, and the quiet moments that reveal something essential about place and connection. Photography, for me, is a way of paying attention. It’s a way of honouring the beauty and complexity of the environments I move through, whether they’re familiar coastlines close to home or landscapes encountered on my travels.
I’ve always been drawn to the interplay of light, texture, and story. Some images emerge from long periods of waiting; others appear in a brief moment of alignment. Across all my work, I aim to create photographs that feel honest, thoughtful, and emotionally resonant.
My gallery on Phillip Island brings together the full breadth of my practice — local and international, intimate and expansive. It’s a space where visitors can slow down, explore, and connect with the stories held in each image.
I’m grateful to share this work with you, and I hope it inspires a sense of wonder, reflection, and appreciation for the incredible world we share.
