I was absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to have a new series of work featured in the PICES at Meeniyan 2023 exhibition.
I decided to stretch myself by putting together a new series of images which show a different approach that displays a higher level of creativity from a photographic perspective.
The artist statement for this initial 8 images is as follows:
As a photographer who is inspired by all things nature, wildlife and culture I am continuously spellbound by the sheer beauty and diversity of our wonderful world.
The humble seagull is generally a bird that rarely gets a second look. However, they emerged as the perfect subject matter for this series of images given their common, plentiful presence and quite often brash behaviour as chip stealing fiends.
To produce this series of Limited Edition seagull images, which are impressionistic in style with a painterly effect, has involved photographing these birds using Intentional Camera Movement techniques combined with very slow shutter speeds to emphasise movement, create blur and transform what may be considered quite ordinary more towards the abstract extrordinary.
The 8 images exhibited are below all of which were offered as Limited Edition Prints with an edition size of 10.
